Resumen energy expenditure measurement of the badminton player in training camp

Quantity of physical activity and energy expenditure measurement of the badminton player have been carried out using heart rate records. There were many measurements at the active mass in the game. It is necessary to adjust to a match with the aim of the condition of the player in order to leave a good result of international match. Because, it is necessary to grasp the energy expenditure in training camp and tour. In this study, it was measured to use doubly labeled water method for energy expenditure of the badminton player in training camp. Simultaneously, the nutritional state was investigated. The purpose of this study is to clarify the energy expenditure for the badminton game. Subjects are 17 badminton player ( 7 men, 10 women ) who participated in the training camp of thomas and Uber cup in 2004. Usual practice was carried out without changing the menu so that it may not become player, staff for the burden. The player was asked for the urine sampling of 1 time in every morning. The activity including the urine sampling time was recorded in the questionnaire. The content of taken meal was made using the nutritional administration system ” i-dietitian” in JISS, and the result was collected. Collected sample was analyzed in the Nippon Sport Science University of Physical Education and health care science laboratory. The analysis of DLW used the 2 point method. As a result of the analysis, In men, water metabolism rate were 5.94L/day , energy expenditure were 4685.5kcal/day, %fat were 11.9%. In women, water metabolism rate were 4.12L/day , energy expenditure were 3238.7kcal/day, %fat were 20.09%. Amount of energy intake, in men, were 3326.2kcal/day, in women, were 2450.2kcal/day. The PFC ratio in men were16.3:25.7:58.0, in women were 18.0:30.8:51.1. Generally, the energy expenditure using the DLW method is called largely coming out further than intake energy amount. The result of this study also similarly showed large value about 1300kcal in men, 800kcal in women. The result of the PFC ratio, there seems to be the necessity of the dietary counselling, because the lipid energetic ratio has exceeded 30% in women.

This method did not stick the schedule of the player, and there was not large burden either, and it was proven that energy expenditure and material of the body condition management were obtained it. It can be also expected to improve of the self-management consciousness of the player. By improving speed and accuracy of analysis, it is considered one of the effective methods in the sports field.
