The word “recreation” comes from the Latin recreare, which means re-produce, renew (AWAD, 2004). Recreation is also characterized as a fact, or the time that the individual chooses spontaneously and deliberately, through which yours desires are realized (CAVALLARI and Zacharias, 2004). METHODS: A literature review, together with the theoretical knowledge acquired throughout the academic activities of the authors, as well as professional experience in the recreation area in a company of Uberlândia, which holds events for children, youth or adults. RESULTS: Is lack of studies on the subject (LAUDARES, 2003). It wasn’t found the distinction between camping/“cantonments”/recreative “cantonments”. Are terms used in academic and professional area. The professionals involved have significant importance for the development and planning of the activities. There are also be physical and organizational structures of the company to be able to carry out activities in a safe place reaching the objectives. DISCUSSION: “Cantonments” is seen as a specific leisure equipment, which enables multidisciplinary work, that can provide a critical pedagogical action and creative. Recreation can be recognized as a principle of construction of citizenship and a basis for action plan committed to inclusion and social responsibility. Leila Pinto (2001) shows that happiness of the monitors it’s necessary but it alone is not enough. CONCLUSION: The recreative “cantonments” are an alternative to educational institutions as well as for parents, make an association between play and study, exploring the aspect of personal training. It is expected that the activities implemented in the “cantonments” may offer possibility of new experiences and not only serving as a moment of entertainment and fun.
